実践的科学英語II (Exercise in Practical Scientific English II )

This course is open to all master and doctoral engineering students. The aim is to enhance students’ abilities to disseminate scientific findings to a wider audience in English. Throughout the course feedback will be given to the presenter by different instructors specializing in Engineering. The course will help students gain confidence in English oral presentations on scientific topics. During the first half of the course, students will learn practical techniques for designing, preparing and delivering an effective speech. In the latter half of the course, each student is expected to give a 10 minute oral presentation using a visual aid. Students are expected to watch their own video and write a reflection paper, which needs to be submitted at the end of the course for evaluation. Finally, students are also expected to present a poster in front of the instructors.

本コースは共通型講義科目として大学院生を対象に「実践的科学英語演習II」を開講しています。学生の各自の研究をベースに，研究内容とその意義，魅力をその分野の専門家でない研究者へいかに伝えるかを中心に発表と討論形式の演習を行います。コース前半は、効果的な設計方法や、デリバリーに関する実践的なテクニックを学びます。 コースの後半では、実際にスライドを使って10分間の口頭発表をし、実践さながらの質疑応答の練習をします。 最終発表はビデオ録画されます。 それをもとに自分で振り返りエッセイが課題として求められます。最後に、講師全員を招き、ポスター発表も行います。履修人数に制限をかけています。初回の授業に必ず出席してください。
